Girard Perregaux
The legacy of Girard Perregaux watches can be traced back to Jean Francois Bautte. The founder might have been orphaned at a young age but his talent still shined through. When he was 19, he was able to acquire several skills and he began to create his first timepieces. It wasn’t long before his creative eye, artistic touch, and imaginative mind became known throughout the royal courts of Europe.
Jean Francois Bautte was described as a watchmaker with a very rare talent. But more than that, he was also an astute businessman with a generous character. His legacy was passed down to Marie Perragaux who married Constantin Girard. They formed Girard Perregaux in 1856.
