Rolex Watches
Founded by Hans Wilsdorf, the resounding success of Rolex watches might have come as a surprise for many. In 1908, the watch making industry was dominated by Swiss manufacturers. At the time, watchmakers still had a difficulty in producing accurate movements for wrist watches. Wilsdorf, a German, wanted to change all that and create reliable movements.
Rolex produced various case designs from elegant, to casual, to sporty. The company sent its first movement to the School of Horology in Switzerland. It was the first company to receive a wrist watch chronometer rating. Soon, it was recognized as a top quality watchmaker.
