This is the original 44mm Automatic Chronograph, the predecessor to the Daylight Chronograph. What makes this watch so cool and special is that it was made in only 1500 pieces for 1 propduction year only and features anthracite chronograph sub dials. Additionally, this watch comes with a super special Montegrappa collectors pen/stylus that is numbered to match the watch and is used to adjust the date on the watch. This pen by itself has been known to fetch as much as $1250 from anxious collectors. When the Daylight models were released, Panerai did not include this pen with the watch, instead they opted to created a new dual purpose screwdriver/stylus tool. This watch comes with both the pen (ballpoint pen on one side, rubber stylus tip on the other), additional stylus/ballpoint refills, and the Panerai crewdriver. Additionally, many collectors prefer this inaugural edition of the 44mm chronograph because it is not associated with the Daylight Sylvester Stallone theme/motif that is representative of the subsequent PAM188/196/250 and
251 Chrono models.
