A SUPER-RARE SPECIAL PIECE FEATURING A SELDOM SEEN nos (NEW-OLD STOCK) VALJOUX MANUAL WINDING CHRONOGRAPH MOVEMENT FROM THE 70'S - EXQUISITELY HAND FINISHED BY PANERAI. This chronograph movement was used exclusively in this watch and no other Panerai models ever used this movement. The reason for this was because Panerai was only able to buy 250 of these gems--enough to make 230 pieces and have 20 left over for spare parts, repairs, etc. Panerai has other special edition pieces with manual winding chronograph movements but none of those watches has a date indication or uses this special movement.
What really makes this watch unique is the use of 2 different types of pushers for the chronograph buttons. One of the buttons is actually built into the case and screws down into the case. The other button is free floating and built on the side of the case but is not recessed into the case itself. The 2 very different looking buttons makes for a very cool contrast and a very unique look and feel, never to be duplicated in any other Panerai!!!!
