Sylvester "Sly" Stallone was among the first and most visible Panerai enthusiast featuring a Panerai watch in a blockbuster action movie. While filming the movie Daylight, Stallone commissioned Panerai to create a special edition watch exclusively for him and to be worn and shown on him in the movie. This was the first time the world outside of Florence was introduced to Panerai watches circa 1996. The movie wasn't the greatest success but it put the watch on the map and set the stage for Panerai's next big onscreen role in Arnold Scwartzenegger's Eraser. This movie scored better with the audience but there was less footage of the watch. In any case, Stallone continues to be an ardent and visible supporter and ambassador for Panerai. A portion of the proceeds of this watch went to benefit one of Stallone's charities. As such, his signature is engraved on the caseback of this watch. What makes this watch different from the PAM187 is that the PAM202 Slytech is made of titanium so it is significantly lighter than the PAM187 (made of steel) and cleaner looking since it does not have a date indication as on the PAM187. Also, the bezel on the Slytech is thinner, making for a wider diameter dial and features pegs instead of welded white gold minute indicators on the PAM187 bezel.- OJ
